Impact of Brexit on the Crown Dependencies
27 Mar 2017
The House of Lords European Union Committee has published its report on the impact of Brexit on the Crown Dependencies: the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey. Whilst the Crown Dependencies’ first priority is the maintenance of their relationship with the UK, they also wish to maintain as far as possible the benefits of their existing relationship with the EU. These priorities could come into conflict. The committee stresses that the UK Government has a constitutional responsibility to represent the interests of the Crown Dependencies in Brexit negotiations. The report can be found here.
